Welcome to the Orpheus Rig Void Hunter Build! Better known as the “Super all the time” build, this setup has your Super every 20 seconds, ensuring a clear battlefield and breathing room for your fireteam. This build showcases it's incredible crowd control, damage resistance, enemy ability suppression, and more! The Void Hunter subclass offers both strong solo builds as well as strong team support. No matter the activity, this is a build that fits into any fireteam.

The key to this build is Orpheus Rig. The armor perk on this exotic provides Super ability energy for each target tethered by the Super, recharging up to half of your maximum Super energy! Orpheus Rig also grants a portion of your melee, class ability, and grenade energy if they aren’t already full. Getting the abilities refunded are the key to this ability spam playstyle.

This build assumes you have bought all necessary fragments and aspects from Ikora Rey in the Tower, as well as have the exotic leg armor, Orpheus Rig.

Pros

  • High ability uptime.
  • Good crowd control.
  • Multiple weapon options.
  • Easy overshields and invisibility.
  • Tether weakens and suppresses.

Cons

  • Stat dependent.
  • Requires higher ad density.
  • Super is not a high damage Super.

Gameplay Loop

You want to wait until there is a group of enemies that you can tether. Aim the tether into the group, and cast your Super. The enemies are Weakened and Suppressed, so you can get close enough to throw your Vortex Grenade into the middle of the tether. Dodge to collect orbs, reduce your Super cooldown, and continue defeating enemies to create more orbs of power. Continue to rotate through your Super, grenade, and dodge to clear the field and recharge your abilities.

That’s the gameplay loop. By the time your tether ends and you’re back to creating more orbs of power, your Super is fully charged again. The Orpheus Rig Void Hunter Build is excels at controlling the battlefield!

Ability Breakdown

Super

  • Shadowshot: Deadfall
    • This Super tethers all enemies within 12.5 meters. While tethered, enemies are Weakened, Suppressed, receive 30% more damage from all sources, AND share 50% of damage taken from other enemies in the tether. The tether itself lasts 12 seconds, but you can increase its longevity by killing enemies in the tether (0.5 seconds per enemy up to a max of 25 seconds).

Abilities

  • Gambler's Dodge - This dodge immediately refunds your Snare Bomb.
  • Triple Jump - Triple jump is nice, but use whichever jump feels best to you.
  • Snare Bomb - Can attach to surfaces and ping the enemy's radar. Weakens enemies when it detonates. Duration is 5 seconds. Also applies damage over time that increases in strength the longer combatants remain in the smoke.
  • Vortex Grenade - This grenade pulls targets inward and continually damages enemies trapped within the vortex.

Casting an ability or shooting a weapon removes your invisibility before the timer is up!

Aspects

  • Trapper's Ambush - consumes your Snare Bomb to make you and nearby allies Invisible, while Weakening nearby enemies.
  • Vanishing Step - dodge to go Invisible.

Both of these aspects offer as-needed invisibility - vanishing step is a dodge, and trapper's ambush is a quickfall dive (the in-game subclass menu tells you which button you have these bound to).

Fragments

  • Echo of Reprisal - when you are surrounded by enemies, get kills to give yourself Super energy. This caps at 7 enemies.
  • Echo of Harvest - defeat Weakened targets to create orbs of power and spawn a Void Breach. Picking up orbs grants Super energy, and Void Breaches grant dodge energy.
  • Echo of Starvation - picking up an orb of power or a Void Breach grants you Devour. With Devour, final blows restore health, grant grenade energy, and extend the duration of Devour.
  • Echo of Persistence - any Void buffs applied to you have an extended duration. This extends the duration of Devour and Void overshields by 50% and the duration of Invisibility by 40%.

Orpheus Rig - provides ability and Super energy for each target tethered by Deadfall anchors.

  • Complete the Vex Strike Force Public Event on Neomuna.
  • Note: this exotic is not locked behind a DLC.

Armor Mods are unlocked by progressing your Guardian Rank. Check out the Guardian Ranks Guide for more information.

Artifact Mods

This build does not require any artifact mods from Episode 1. IF you would like to add mods, these would pair well with this build:

  • Any Champion mods from Column 1.
  • Authorized Mod: Elemental Charge - Energy cost of Elemental Mods is decreased significantly.
  • Elemental Siphon - Rapid final blows with a kinetic weapon or a weapon matching your Super will create an elemental pickup that also matches your Super.
  • Counter Energy - When a member of your fireteam stuns a Champion, you gain energy for your least charged ability.
  • Void Hegemony - While you have a Void or Prismatic subclass equipped, defeated weakened targets provides a small void overshield.
  • Expanding Abyss - Void sources deal increased damage to weakened targets.

Recommended Weapons

  • Kinetic Slot: Witherhoard - Blighted targets take damage over time and blight the nearby area on death.
  • Energy Slot: The Recluse with Destabilizing Rounds - great for making enemies Volatile.
  • Power Slot: Edge Transit with Chain Reaction - perfect for killing grouped up enemies.

Variants

  • Swap all cloak mods for Empowered Finish, Font of Restoration and Proximity Ward on the cloak.
    • If you find that creating orbs of power is not an issue, but survivability is, combine these mods to gain an overshield and an Armor Charge from performing a Finisher, as well as an increase to recovery time while you have an Armor Charge.
  • Swap Power Preservation for Void Siphon on the helmet.
    • This provides you an easier way to proc generating orbs of power for your fireteam if you are not getting final blows on enemies.
  • Swap Wish-Ender for Witherhoard - the exotic bow intrinsically refunds Super energy, as well as over-penetrating enemies' shields.
    • How to acquire: This bow is locked behind the Forsaken expansion. Go to the Tower and access the Quest Archive. Under the exotic section, find the Wish-Ender quest. Complete the quest to gain the bow.
  • Feel free to utilize other weapons, as they do not make or break this build. Use what works for you!

Summary

This Orpheus Rig Void Hunter is great for ad clear, enemy suppression, and area control. The combination of armor mods, fragments, and aspects ensures your abilities and Super remain active. Use your Snare Bomb or Vanishing Step to go invisible when necessary. Kill enemies to create orbs for the entire fireteam. Any Guardian is thankful to have this build at their side!
