Last weekend, I went to a Bata store to find some casual shoes. The person helping me was a young guy, probably around 19 or 20 years old. He was friendly and showed me different shoes. He put all his efforts into making me comfortable with options. I almost finalized two pairs of shoes and I could see a good smile on his face as he was about to close a sale.Out of habit, I took out my phone to check some notifications and, in the process, decided to look up the price of the same shoes online. I checked on Amazon and found a 30% discount. Even though I could see the nervousness on the attendant face, I couldn't find the courage to ask him for billing. In the end, I ended up ordering on Amazon because I was getting a good deal. I kept thinking about the guy's face that night, the way it transitioned from smiling face to sad. It made me wonder if he got anything from the sale, even though I bought from the same company. I'm not sure how Bata rewards its store's employees, but if I had bought from him, it might have boosted his confidence and made him a better salesperson in the future.I got my delivery yesterday and I am happy with the shoes, but still confused about whether I made the correct decision or not.#ecommerce #sales #pricedifference

A Humbling Lesson in the Power of KnowledgeAs a marketing professional, I thought I had it all figured out. But a recent experience at Bata Shoe Company taught me a valuable lesson in the importance of seeking knowledge beyond assumptions.During a visual merchandise training session, my superior, Mr Chimusimbe, asked our team what we understood by "POP". To my surprise, everyone answered incorrectly, referring to Point of Purchase. But, the correct answer was Point of Parity. At Bata, we display our products with a POP, which means showcasing our signature brand, Bata shoes, with a clear and consistent message. This experience taught me the importance of seeking knowledge beyond assumptions and not being afraid to ask questions. It's a reminder to keep advancing ourselves, learning from our mistakes, and embracing the power of knowledge.Let's keep growing and motivating each other! #BataShoeCompany #RetailExcellence #MarketingLessons #KnowledgeIsPower #GrowthMindset #ContinuousLearning

Is your market tough today? Try this1975 I was running one of the family’s supermarkets. We had new competition from a much larger store opening too close for comfort. I was looking for ways to improve revenue.Skateboards were at their crazy peak. I rang around local wholesalers & toy companies trying to source some. Nobody had any. Nada. They were selling faster than containers from US & China could be unloaded & distributed. The next day I rang around all the same wholesalers “I’m a skateboard manufacturer, what volume of deliveries within a month can you handle?”. I got some very warm responses. Then I sourced components and tooled up where they weren't available. By the end of the month I had twelve people assembling Keenboards in the former stockroom of my store.Where are your left-field opportunities right now?#salestraining#salesgrowth#businessgrowth#goodtogreat #positivemindset

Sunday Sales Nation - Back in my Al Bundy days a long time ago, I got to work for Nordstrom, when it was just firing up in Northern California. They trained you well, and had a number of long tenured "shoe dogs" that they hired on as well. This was a brutal, commission based open floor, where you competed for customers and every sale counted towards the rent! One of the veteran dudes laughed at a "newbie" who had a lot of sales, but always had the highest percentage of returns. He would "screw fit" customers, forcing them into a shoe that didn't fit, but telling them it did to get the sale. These returns were time consuming back then, running a credit card, booking a return and a reason, and trying to justify why the shoe was sold in the first place.I learned from this sales pro to "Sell Clean." Long term it was not only best for the customer, but also for you. Giving a customer the gift of a "blister" is good in no trade. No Sale is better than a Bad Sale. Get them next time!#sales #salesadvice #selling101

When I checked the #samples for the customer today, I smelled each product one by one🐽 to check if there was any peculiar smell. The assistant said that if there is no client to do business with me in the future, I can apply for a police dog🐕 at customs hahahahah ,seems good too. Every time I inspect the goods for the customer, I will be very careful🤔, especially when checking the samples. The customer will believe my feedback based on their trust in me. If I do not notice the defects of the product, the customer will lose a lot of money in the next order. But In fact, there is no #commission for sample #orders, but I will still be very serious. In addition to checking whether the various product information is true, I will also check whether the touch is sharp, whether the material is #skin-friendly🧐, whether the #packaging is damaged, and whether it is pungent smell, because these things are not visible in the pictures given by the #supplier.I have always believed that I am serious and responsible, so that customers can trust me and be at ease with me. This is the most important element of doing #business❗ And rhetoric is false ❗ #supplier #manufacturer #product #agent #purchase #basket #cup #airtight #jar #bag #seasoning #rack #shelf #acrylic #bamboo #kitchen #storage #box

What a week... Our largest-ever retail order is packed and ready to go out to Boots UK - almost DOUBLE the size of our second-biggest order for retail. Our original 3 x SKUs and an additional 4 x SKUs, launching next month in over 160 new Boots locations. Well over 100,000 units packed and palleted ready for collection.A huge achievement as we expand further across our category in Boots due to significant uplifts in sales. Retail is fast becoming a key area of focus for us and there is no better time to stock the world's best zero-sugar, natural vitamin and electrolyte hydration sachets!A huge well done to the ViDrate team for the rapid turnaround (on top of a record order for Amazon and a huge increase in online orders).Myself and the ViDrate team are also super excited to reveal a huge announcement with Boots in 2-3 weeks time - stay tuned!Just in time to finish the preparation for a flavour launch in approx 2 hours!#retail #growth #boots #expansion #entrepreneur
